Crazy days and 2nd trimester
Wow! It's been on of those crazy weeks and days...with the end of the school year coming to a close (and rather quickly), we have been busy non-stop. Then on top of that I have a few orders that I have been trying to fill from my "business" page...and if life isn't crazy enough...I'm still trying to work on getting licensed to be the crochet instructor for Michael's, and I was asked to be their knitting...which of course is a separate class! Sooo...needless to say...I can't complain that I'm bored! LOL :)
However, a few updates are in order for this process and journey that is going on! :) We had our 1 of 2 classes for our agency this last Saturday. Our next and last one is May 4th. I really enjoyed the class...although I a FLOOD of emotions during the panel time where a birth mom got up and told her story...it was still extremely awesome to hear it from her perspective. We were able to ask questions to her to know a little more about what their part looks like and maybe some possibilities at what some of the birth mom's look for. We also had a Dr. come in to talk to us about some physical issues a baby may encounter if birth mom drank, smoked, or did any kind of drugs, which was neat to hear. Steve and I knew most of the what he talked about (through research, psychology classes, and talking to another social worker)...but it was still neat to hear another perspective.
The cool thing about the class is that they allow you an hr and a half to have lunch, but they highly encouraged you to go to lunch with the other families in the class. So we went with one family and got to talk to them and just talk life. We really didn't talk much about the process or how we got there, believe it or not...we talked about what we did as a profession...what we liked to do...how we got to Arizona...and just other random things. It was really nice! I'm looking forward to the next class. For this one we will be able to talk to adoptive parents that have already gone through it all! Super exciting!! :)
Ok, now on the 2nd part of the heading of this blog...2nd trimester...and yes you read that right. We are officially into our "2nd trimester" of this process. Remember 1st trimester is from the time the decision is made to the time you are official licensed to adopt. The 2nd is from the time you are licensed to the time you are matched. The 3rd is from the time you are matched to the time the adoption is finalized. Now, we have been between trimester 1 and 2 for a while now...the courts here are just slow at processing our stuff...grr...but that's beside the point. :) So, we got last week, the official paper from the court that we are clear and good to adopt...so, we are now fully into the 2nd trimester!!! Amazing to see how God has been working and how this whole journey has unfolded right before our eyes!!! :) We are so excited to see more of what God has in store for us!
